Mini Till ("we", "us") operates mini-till.co.uk. This policy explains what data the site handles and where it goes.
1. The free till
Everything you enter into the till — products, prices, sales, settings — is processed and stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. None of it is transmitted to us or anyone else. We cannot see it, back it up or recover it.
- Clearing your browser data permanently deletes your products and sales history, so download a backup from the till regularly.
- The "share product list" feature encodes your product names and prices into a link. Anyone you give that link to can import the list; nothing is stored on a server.
2. The Pro stock system
The optional multi-location stock system works differently, because syncing several tills against one stock needs a server. When a team signs in and uses it, we store in our database (Cloudflare D1):
- Your team name, locations, and product catalogue
- Team members' names, roles, and sign-in credentials (passwords and PINs are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text)
- Email addresses of members who sign in by email
- Stock movements, sales, shifts and reports for your team
This data is used only to provide the stock system to your team. We don't sell it or use it for advertising. Removing a team removes its data.
3. Payments
Subscriptions to Mini Till Pro are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. We store only what we need to run your subscription: your Stripe customer reference, subscription status and billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal linked from the stock console.
4. Visiting the website
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard request data — IP address, browser type, pages requested — to serve the site and protect it from abuse. Server logs are kept for security and performance monitoring, typically for 90 days or less.
5. Advertising and cookies
The free site is supported by Google AdSense adverts on content pages (never on the till screen itself). Google may use cookies to show relevant adverts, limit repeats and measure effectiveness. You can control ad personalisation at Google Ad Settings or opt out at aboutads.info/choices. For more on Google's practices, see the Google privacy policy.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect adverts but will not affect the till, which does not use cookies.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of personal data we hold about you, and to data portability. For till data we hold nothing — it's already on your device and yours to export or delete. For Pro accounts, email us and we'll act on your request within 30 days.
7. Data security
The site is served over HTTPS. Pro credentials are hashed, roles limit who in your team can see what, and we collect the minimum we need. No system is perfectly secure, so we'd rather hold less of your data than promise the impossible.
8. Children
The site is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Changes to this policy
If the policy changes, the new version appears here with a revised date. Material changes will be flagged at the top of the page.
10. Contact and complaints
Questions or requests: hello@mini-till.co.uk or the contact page.
If you believe we've mishandled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113.
Record-keeping reminder: Mini Till is a till, not accounting software. You remain responsible for keeping proper business records for HMRC. Export your sales regularly and keep backups.
