The problem
If you run a market stall, a pop-up shop, a small café or a charity event, you need some way to track what you are selling. The options are not great. Full POS systems cost hundreds of pounds and come with monthly subscriptions. They need dedicated hardware, training and setup time. For a weekend market trader or someone running a one-off fundraiser, that is absurd.
The alternative is a notebook and a calculator. Or a phone calculator app and a lot of mental arithmetic. Neither gives you a proper record of what you sold, and neither helps when you are trying to reconcile your takings at the end of the day.
We built Mini Till because there should be something in between — a till that runs on any device with a browser, costs nothing, needs no account, and just works.
What Mini Till does
You set up your products with names and prices, then tap them to add to a sale. It calculates totals, handles discounts, shows the VAT in each price, and records every transaction.
- Product management — add, edit, reorder and categorise your products
- Quick till screen — tap products to build a sale, just like a real till
- Discounts — percentage or fixed amount, per sale, switched on only if you want them
- VAT included — prices are treated as VAT-inclusive at 20%, and every sale shows the VAT portion within it
- Payment tracking — card, cash or split, with change worked out for cash
- End-of-day dashboard — revenue, transaction count, average sale and the card/cash/split breakdown
- CSV export — download your sales history from the Sales history section, for your records or your accountant
- Focused till mode — a full-screen layout for when you are serving and need every pixel
Everything above runs in your browser and your data is stored on your device. There is no server, no account and no subscription involved in any of it.
For teams running more than one counter there is an optional extra: a multi-location stock system with a central store, transfers, stocktakes, team logins and sales synced from every till. That part is Mini Till Pro.
Who it is for
- Market traders who need a quick way to ring up sales on a phone or tablet
- Pop-up shops that need a till for a weekend without buying hardware
- Cafés and food stalls that want something simpler than a full POS
- Charity fundraisers running a bake sale or raffle and tracking takings
- Craft fair sellers managing a table of handmade goods
- Anyone who needs a till and does not want to pay for one
How it pays for itself
Plainly: two ways, neither of them your card details.
The till is a page in your browser with no backend and next to no running cost, so it is free and stays free — no trial, no locked features, no "upgrade to unlock". The content pages on this site carry a little advertising, which covers the hosting.
The stock system is different: it keeps your team's data on a server, synced between locations, and that has real running costs. So it is a paid tier — £4 a month or £40 a year — and it is the only thing here that costs money. If you never need it, you will never see a payment screen.
